Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. Please do not upload photos unless you have permission by the copyright holder to publish them in a public space. 

Artist profile photos: You may use jpg or png format with maximum file size of 5 megabytes. By uploading an image to this site, you guarantee that you have permission from the image’s copyright holder (if any) to publish this image, and that you give us permission to publish the image to this website as your artist image. (We cannot be held responsible for legal issues regarding copyrights and we do not want you to have to deal with those either… they are not fun!) 
 

Cookies

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day. 

Artist Biographical Information

If you are a contributing artist on The United Song project, and you opt to provide your biographical information, this data will be stored indefinitely. You may ask us to remove your artist information at any time by emailing theunitedsong@gmail.com and letting us know you would like to be removed from this site. Please allow us two weeks to remove your information (although we should be able to remove it much sooner). 

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. 

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. 

We share biographical information contributed by project artists with the public.

We may use Google Analytics to analyze your visit data in general to help us assess the performance and health of our website. None of this visit data personally identifies you, though the data is shared with Google for the purpose of analysis.

Any information that you provide to us will be used by us to correspond directly with you or provide a service that you have requested. We will not sell or share any other information with a third party unless required to do so by law. 

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Contributing artist data provided by our users will be stored and displayed indefinitely, unless you request that we remove it. 

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
